I tried my first yoga posture to recuperate after a bad injury in 2009, This injury left me in a wheelchair for the better part of a year. I have now practiced yoga for over 12 years. My dedication and commitment to a yogic life began in hopes to get back to basics, to the root of my well-being and to connect with my Christian faith. Some how along the way I lost who I was and yoga helped me find myself again.
Yoga was an alternative to everything I tried in the past from running, circuit training and even participating in a Tough Mudder, which did pound on my body both physically and emotionally. Although I needed all levels of physical activity, yoga added the balance I needed in my life. Through the years, I always found myself going back to the yoga mat. I was obese; I had aches, pains, injuries, diabetes, thyroid disease, and fibromyalgia. I was balancing a fast-paced lifestyle dealing with being a single mom, an ex-wife, an employee, a boss, and dealing with lots of anxiety that can come from life in general. Through yoga (and my faith in God), I have finally found my inner peace. I have learned to love myself and to hold no judgements. I learned that I was my my own worst critic and learning to let go and love has helped me be a better person and to love God and others in a way I never thought was possible.
I have earned a CrowBarre© Certification from Wachusett Wellness, CrowBarre© combines mindfulness and movement—its founder’s belief in the importance of both physical and mental health. I have earned a 100-hr certification in PraiseMoves©, the Christian Alternative to Yoga. This program has allowed me to share God through a Fitness Ministry. I have a RYT-200 teacher certification from Wachusett Wellness focusing on pranayama, meditation, vinyasa, yin yoga, and restorative yoga. I have also studied under Lucas Rockwood and am Gravity© certified, which is targeted mobility training as a flexibility coach. I have also studied crystal healing and am certified in Crystal Healing under Paulette O'Rourke. This also included sound healing. I am Reiki-Certified Practitioner and Master Reiki Teacher. I earned my Reiki 1 and 2 under Mandy Garrison and my Master Teacher and Master of Masters under Libby Barnett. Most recently I completed my YTT-500 with the following concentrations: Kundalini Yoga, Ayurveda Medicine, Enneagram, and Lunar Wisdom with additional training in Kundalini.
As a teacher and healer, I like to help others find their own sense of peace and strength through yoga, as well as using the power of self-healing, which I believe we all possess. I believe we all have the power to heal ourselves through breathing, meditation, and our daily practice of self-love.
